The Based Draft

I'm accused of timing my last post just before the New York Times launched it's much awaited hit-piece on Scott Alexander.

It's all a funny coincidence. But funny it is. Indeed Scott Alexander was the subject of a post I wrote exactly 5 years ago where I also mention the story of Ying Bu.

It's been interesting to see Scott's development since then. On one hand he hasn't changed much. He's got progressively more famous, and deservedly so. He's also got progressively more fat. Which is sad, but not ...

Interview on Bioleninism

A few weeks ago, a great artist who runs the blog Parallax Optics was kind enough to ask me for an interview on Bioleninism, to follow up on a great piece he published recently where he interviewed the man responsible for the Twitter account Woke Capital. That interview was great, and I had never done an interview before, so I thought it could be a good idea to try this new format. As it happened, the interview went great, and I very much enjoyed the process.

What follows is the whole text of the...

The Incel Question

A couple of interesting things happened on Twitter last week. One was this:

https://twitter.com/robinhanson/status/990612769182507011

I'm a great fan of Hanson from years ago. Not of his weird sci-fi stuff, that I don't get. But his socio-psychology writing is top-notch. After an incel unleashed his Beta Rage killing several people on a van attack, the very word "incel" has reached the mainstream. And the normies are flabbergasted. What's an "incel"? Involuntary celibate? Like, some people aren't ...

Leninism and Bioleninism

Happy New Year everyone. I left a bit of a cliffhanger on my last post, which I intended to resolve in a few days, but I've been pretty busy, not really in the mood to write long form.

I am sorry about that, but do note, this blog is a free service, so I hope you understand it doesn't quite take the priority of my time. Again, there's a Bitcoin address at the sidebar, so if you want me to write more, I'm sure we can arrange something.

2017 has been a quite eventful year. I guess the overall mood w...

Bioleninism, the first step

Some things I said in Twitter yesterday. Man, 280 characters feel *way* better.

https://twitter.com/thespandrell/status/940732305265610752

Bronze Age warfare used to be about great lords going around in their chariots, shooting arrows here and there, then getting on foot and engaging in Single Combat. Early Samurais also did that. They'd go around on their horses, shouting who they were, their house, their pedigree.

But eventually somebody figured out that winning a war is really profitable. So the...

Biological Leninism

It's 100 years now since the Russian Revolution. The Soviet Union. Lenin and the Bolsheviks. Leninism. It's been 100 years already, but you realize how present the whole thing remains when you look at the press these days. People are still praising or damning the revolution. As if it mattered anymore. As if it were something more than history. As if the left and right of today had remotely anything in common with the left and right of Lenin's day.

I won't praise Lenin, an evil man. But great men ...

Fate

Years ago, when the alt-right was barely beginning to form, many Western patriots hang out at Lawrence Auster's blog. There was one very interesting guy, called Conservative Swede. Eventually he surrendered, and I don't know what is of him now. But he had a very interesting blog on Europe and Islam and all this stuff which now has been taken over by the alt-right and Frog twitter.

The best thing I ever read of Conservative Swede is when he wrote that Mecca will be nuked. Eventually. It just has t...

Holiness Escalation

Remember this? The lily-white couple who implanted 100% black embryo and gave birth to black triplets? They were so happy of themselves. So proud of it. The holiest people on earth. Surely nobody could be holier than us!

Oh boy. There's a Japanese saying, 上には上がある (ue ni wa ue ga aru). It means that as high as you get, there's always somewhere higher. As good as you think you are, there's always someone better. The world's a big place. And humans can be so annoying.

Another whit...

The Singularity is here

The leftist singularity has arrived. Maybe not the political singularity, the bloodbath that Jim predicts for when leftists lose any status-whoring objects to compete around. But the sociological singularity has just arrived.

See Steve Sailer's insane find of Microaggressions. Power, privilege and daily life. Whatever people say, social science has advanced a lot in the last decades. And leftist indoctrination has also proceed apace. What you get from that are a generation of very sophisticated l

Dicks versus leftism

Back in my libertarian days I remember reading a piece (or was it an interview?) by David Friedman, about the future of freedom or something like that. He said that there are 2 mainstream wings of libertarians. There are those who think that what is needed to further freedom is a change in the culture, i.e. we need to persuade people into valuing freedom. And there are others who think that it is a legal problem, that what we need is more libertarian laws, a better designed constitution, etc. Th...

Freak morality

Nietzsche used to decry the post-Victorian liberal worldview he lived among as the ideology of the weak. He was a Greek scholar, and imbued in the heroic mindset, he couldn't help hating what he saw around him in the real world. He blamed Christianity, who said Blessed the Poor, who gave hope to the wretched. Slave morality he called it. The idea being that Christianity, by saying all men were equal in the eyes of God, was merely pandering inferior people's envy of the better men.

Envy is a very ...

On Sovereignty

Anomaly UK wrote a couple of weeks ago the kind of post I always want to write, but never do. It's really good, and it touches many points that should be obvious to any interested in public policy. For example, on employment:

This is so true it's painful. It should be branded on steel on every libertarian's thigh. Politics is not about policy, it's about power. And power is about patronage. It has been so since at least Roman times, who gaves us the words Patron and Client. Well it happens that t...

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you

The Cathedral is at least trying:

(H/T Voxday)

Since the Gmail privacy brouhaha earlier this month I've started to think a bit about my digital footprint, and with shit like this, damn it's hard not to get paranoid.

Anomaly UK had this post talking about how to do dissenting blogging if the shit gets serious and the government starts to crack down. See how in the comments Jim, who seems to know what he's talking about,  makes some suggestions. I also recall how zhainan made that great post about

Radiotherapy

I'll be travelling in Japan during this month. Japan that marvellous country without low IQ slaves migrants doing work that the natives won't do.

I'll be quite busy these days, but I'll comment about some funny news I just saw.

Japan has a huge debt problem, bigger than Greece in a sense. And the country is aging rapidly, leftist politics are rising, which means welfare spending is going up. So they are running out of money fast. The first instinct of the government has been to raise the consumpt...
