Quote of the week

Posted by Spandrell on

From Adam Curtis' blog:

Today it is possible to argue that we have all become gay white negroes. We all listen to "edgy urban" music, spend our time in the gym, go shopping and groom ourselves, take lots of drugs, have sex and then spend the rest of the time talking to our friends about the impossibility of finding real love and connection in the world.

Cf. Foseti's take on Frost.

  • Yeah, but what are you going to do? I feel for Frost, because what were his options really. He wanted to be an investment banker, which is just the same lifestyle x3-5. "More" is really all people have to strive for. There really isn't much to do in this world. Most useful work can be done by a tiny portion of the population. Another tiny portion is gifted with artistic talent. The rest of us just exist. Even the thing people who just exist used to do, raise a family, is largely off the market if you're a rational male.

    • "There really isn’t much to do in this world" That's just not true. Hipsters are filling their lives with meaning by selling hand made chocolate for $9 a bar. http://isteve.blogspot.com.es/2012/05/latest-whitopia-1890s.html It's all a matter of perspective. "Useful" means shit, Instagram isn't useful but the dudes made 1 goddamn billion bucks out of it. And the lack of talent is really subjective. If you are reading this you know about how reality works better than 99% of people. You know about HBD and you know about Game. Use that knowledge to find a women, tame here and raise a family. It isn't that hard. Being a rational male shouldn't be about maximising your chances for easy sex. It's about knowing that easy sex is part of the problem. Give up on hedonism and depression goes away. Thailand is just like switching to a cheaper, lower quality drugs, when you gotta quit.

    • The $9 chochlet bar market is niche. I'm not saying its a bad thing (I actually think its more real then most jobs) only that only a tiny portion of society can do it. Knowing about HBD and game isn't useful for making money. If you're not good at emulation it even hurts. Game is useful for getting sluts. Good girls don't exist anymore. I think there is a marraige market out there for alphas and skilled greater betas. Everyone else would be better off skipping out.

      • Forget about making money, and forget about a good girl. We need to be content with OK money and an OK girl. We don't deserve more than that. If you need a mission, well I agree on that. Liberals make up their own sense of purpose by helping overbreeding in Africa. The Antiversity should set up some missions for our people, if only to keep us busy. I often think of us as the scholars in the Foundation colony. We should be doing something, it won't be long until TSHTF, if only culturally.

        • The average girl leads to the average divorce. The average salary leads to NAM public schools for your kids. The average has been lost. Foseti has his review where he notes that Singapore made beauty of the country an important national purpose, irregardless of its economic merit. That purpose gives people pride. I think something like high speed rail would be the same here. Economics and politics aside, every country with high speed rail seems to take pride in it. Everytime a TSA agent feels you up its dehumanizing.

    • Wasn't he the guy from Joy Division? Gay negroes living meaningless lives is what you get when you take away religion. Just the way we're built, it seems. Attempts to build a replacement religion always turn into farce (Five Percenters and Scientology) or tragedy (the popular government doctrines of the 20th century.)

      • No, that's Ian. Adam Curtis is the closest thing to Lenin we have today, but he uses his energy to make documentaries about the evils of capitalism. His blog is probably the best there is out there, check out the archives. It's a gold mine. As for religion, I increasingly believe you are right. But religions have consequences besides the individual. If we were all pious Christians you fellas wouldn't have it easy.

        • I know, I was joking. You could send a nigga a link, yo? These things are out of the hands of man. Perhaps we would do OK, as we did in many Muslim states and in Christian Spain, etc. for a long time. We thrive under pressure-the population growth rates in Poland in the 18th and 19th centuries were astounding. Or, better yet: "8 Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt. 9 “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us. 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.” 11 So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 13 and worked them ruthlessly. " So we see that oppression isn't always absolutely bad and tolerance isn't always good. Of course, I believe that in the long run, a true religion will prevail, but it is obvious that even a religion with some truth at its kernel like Islam or Christianity is much better than post-religious degeneracy.
