If you're not a scientific researcher discovering new stuff, are you just an NPC?

If you're not a Researcher discovering new stuff, you're literally doing the same thing someone else has done before, just sustaining life as you're programmed to, like an NPC.

If you are a researcher discovering new stuff, you are literally following a scientific method that every other scientist follows does this make you an NPC? If you try to replicate studies you are literally doing something that someone already did so are you an NPC? If you post slop you are literally just posting the same shit as everyone else for no discernible reason, does this mean you are just an NPC if you do this?

Almost nobody follows 'Teh ScIeNtifiC MeTHoD!!!111' when doing research. Especially in my field. Just thought I'd clarify. Otherwise, this discussion is excellent bait. We need more of this.

Maybe you should try more scientific research instead? Speaking of which, why do so many people want to be scientists these days? Is it because it's a good career for the middle class, or because of idealistic motives? I think it's more of the former. Most people who get scientific training don't end up in research anyways.
